Big Bend National Park

We stayed several nights at a “dispersed” campsite. While for the most part serenity played a dominant role, I did manage to offend the National Park volunteer’s dignity by suggesting (paraphrasing) he was an overzealous buffoon.

That resulted in a visit from the National Park ranger who was all decked out in a modified version of full battle rattle. He ran my ID and tried to deflate my “this is BS” demeanor with meaningless platitudes.

He parted with the understanding I would NOT be changing my approach to camping. The volunteer did not traverse the road again before I left.
